  Open Thread

I haven't seen much to any commentary on this blog so I thought I'd just open a generic thread to catch some comments. Are people using torrentocracy? Thoughts? Has anyone downloaded any of the torrents I've made available?

Garry,

First, I’d like to say that torrentocracy is awesome! The convergence of syndication, P2P and digital devices is on the forefront of media distribution. Thank you for putting this all together!

I did have some initial trouble getting torrentocracy installed under Debian, because I didn’t see the comment in the settings.pro file, but since then I’ve been using it for almost a week and have had success downloading a few torrents from LegalTorrents.com.

However, I may still have issues, because I haven’t been able to d/l any torrents you have made available.

Perhaps there is still something with my config, because I have noticed that the markup in your feed (and others) doesn’t get stripped out. So I see HTML tags embedded within the Myth interface view.

Also a feature request:

Some Tracker RSS feeds do not yet support enclosures. Therefore is it possible to strip out any URLs containing torrent files from either the description or link tags within the feed?

Thanks again for developing torrentocracy!

Best,

Steve

I'm not sure why you haven't been able to download torrents from this site. When you hit menu, does it let you go to the torrent controls? If it does and you push the button, does it not change from inactive to ACTIVE?

As far as the HTML markup in the feed, this is known and is something I need to get to. I need to figure the best way to leverage someone else HTML conversion stuffs. I also might go back and try to pull torrent links from non-enclosure references, but you ought to tell whoever is doing it by way of <link> that they should follow the standard and use enclosures.

Odd... I tested your feed tonight and it's "actively" pulling down the Richard Stallman torrent. Well, thanks for reality check. I much have been doing something wrong.

BTW, if you haven't already checked out the Feedster enclosure search feed ... it's great:

Great blog! Thanks!

Downloaded Femi Kuti and Burning Spear's shows you recorded, thanks a lot! Still, what is this Windoze UI sound on Femi Kuti's tracks? Better delete them from HD, so they don't take space ;)
