  Problem with Torrentocracy app in MythTV 0.16?

I got a note today reporting a problem with the Torrentocracy app on MythTV 0.16 and pointing me to a Torrentocracy wiki which also states the same:

QObject::connect: No such signal QTextBrowser?::insertItem(QTextBrowser?*)
QObject::connect: (sender name: 'unnamed')
QObject::connect: (receiver name: 'torrentocracy')
Segmentation fault

So don't panic when MythTV suddenly quits when starting Torrentocracy on MythTV 0.16!

This is troubling but also interesting because I'm currently running from Myth CVS 0.16.20041005-1 with no problems at all. I'm using qt-3.3 as well. If anyone has any info to help narrow this down, please drop me a line.

I might have an answer on this one... I was still having the problem, even after moving to the CVS version of Torrentocracy. Repeated crashing, with the noted errors.

Turns out this happens when you try and select torrentocracy from the main menu when you haven't defined any feeds...

Enabling a couple of feeds completely eliminated this error for me.

Thanks, this is actually what I was looking for. The error message about the SIGNAL does indeed need to be fixed, but it was not causing the problem. The problem and bug (which I was aware of) is the need to have subscribed feeds in order for the app to work. If only I was better with C++ and there were another couple hours in each day.

I'm getting a similar error. However I do have subscribed feeds.

I'm able to look at my RSS feeds, and the torrents available. But when I attempt to start a torrent I get the error:

QObject::connect: No such signal QTextBrowser::insertItem(QTextBrowser*)
QObject::connect: (sender name: 'unnamed')
QObject::connect: (receiver name: 'torrentocracy')

I'm glad to see I'm not the only one having this issue. I've tried numerous things...so far they include:

Installing knoppmyth and using the torrentocracy cvs - same problem

Installing Mandrake 10.1 as per http://www.byopvr.com/Sections+index-req-viewarticle-artid-13-page-1.html
then installing torrentocracy via CVS - same problem.

I attempted to try mandrake 10.1, mythtv via cvs...but got way too many errors when trying to compile mythtv.

What linux distibution are you using John?

I've got the same problem, running FC3 and latest MythTV from CVS, also QT3.3. Happens with feeds defined. I notice it as soon as I start Torrentocracy from the main menu.
Also, the black-background text area that holds the descriptions is the wrong size and is halfway up my screen, not where it's supposed to be.

It appears as though the CVS no longer works...unless it's a temporary glitch or something.

Someone's also messed up the installation instructions wiki.

Adam just clued me in to more people commenting here. There are definitely some flaws in the app and I'm really looking for people to help me (my c++ as evident here needs improving). the main problems with things now center around properly anchoring the textbrowser to the screen (and scaling it for different resolutions). what is in there now for code is a hack (though i dont think it is necessarily the cause of your problems, besides the weird gui placement). i'm currently running the code on top of latest mythtv cvs on fc1 with no problems. i'd really appreciate anyones help to resolving these (also cvs appears to be working for me).

Since the gui placement stuff (i.e. text boxes etc,) seems to be hardcoded for the moment, could you tell us what resolution your myth gui is set at so that we can set the same and get properly placed text boxes too.

Or how to fiddle with the settings to make it work with our own resolutions?
