Torrentocracy 0.0.11
You can now pick up Torrentocracy version 0.0.11 (tgz): * The app now properly displays regardless of your screen resolution. This was based off of Joshua Ebel's patch and has consistently been one of the biggest problems people report. Thanks Josh. Specifically, it has settings for 1.33 (eg. 640x480, 1024x768) and 1.5 (eg. 720x480). So, it still might not be perfectly lined up on PAL displays which run at 1.25 or on Widescreen. If you let me know numbers to get it to perfectly line up, I'll add code to make it work. * Added support for BitTorrent 4.0.0. The torrent statistics now show up, but BT 4 doesn't include the remaining download time within its btlaunchmany stats so this can no longer be displayed. It also buffers output to the log file and only dumps upon reaching a threshhold. This means that if you're only downloading 1 torrent, torrent stats will generally update every 5-10 seconds. Torrentocracy 0.0.10
You can now pick up Torrentocracy version 0.0.10 (tgz): * John Miller's patch to make DB changes for Myth version 0.17 compatibility * The exit button on your remote now acts just like the left button (though the exit button will eventually exit out of the program). * Shaun Jackman's patch to pull torent urls from <link> tags I've also started a torrentocracy mailing list so bring your discussion there. Update: 3/4/2005, forgot about the torrent from link tag feature. By Gary Lerhaupt, 12:16 AM in changeblog | Comments (0)September 08, 2004
Torrentocracy 0.0.9
Torrentocracy 0.0.9 is now available (tarball): * If the RSS entry text has a torrent URL within it and no torrent enclosure XML in the actual feed, parse out the torrent URL so torrentocracy can join it. Duh, this 8 extra lines of code will make torrentocracy able to make use of ANY blog which points to a torrent. * Added Air America Radio Archive to the list of torrent enabled feeds * Reconnected MythBrowser to Torrentocracy (it no longer seg faults). You can now hit select on an RSS entry to bring it up in MythBrowser for full web effect. I don't have it perfected yet so control isn't properly returned back to torrentocracy after you exit MythBrowser. --- I've been sparse on updates and time devoted to torrentocracy lately as I've been busy getting ready to move from Austin to Stanford. Though I only see myself getting busier once I get there. We'll see what shapes up. By Gary Lerhaupt, 11:20 PM in changeblog | Comments (0)August 22, 2004
Torrentocracy 0.0.8
Torrentocracy 0.0.8 is now available (tarball): * Full download/upload statistics are now displayed when you are actively joined to a bit torrent. The statistics (percent complete, time remaining, upload and download totals and rates) refresh every second. * Added the feed from DV Guide to the torrent-enabled feed subscription list. * Added a 'status' parameter to the bittorrent service. * Dick Smits URL/regexp patch. CVS: full torrent statistics
In CVS, I have checked in the display of full torrent statistics when joined to a bit torrent. Now you can see full upload and download speed and totals as well as what percentage is complete and the remaining time. I still need to tweak it so that it refreshes this information automatically every second or so and also do away with the endless logging in the background status file. On the screenshots page, you can see what this looks like. For clarity, I didn't actually take a picture of my TV this time. Though, I think you do lose a little bit of the effect.

torrentocracy 0.0.7 (the James Bond release)
torrentocracy 0.0.7 is now available (tarball): * RSS entries are now fully scrollable so all text can be seen. They also properly format HTML (it doesn't display images yet) with yellow anchor links (which aren't quite clickable yet). * Disabled the hooks into MythBrowser as hitting select only currently causes a segfault. * Added bt.etree.org's RSS feed to the list of torrent-enabled blogs * Fixed bittorrent script to keep it from quickly spawning off multiple processes. Torrentocracy 0.0.5
Torrentocracy 0.0.5 is now available (tarball): * The black torrent status window now actually has a purpose. It displays the name of a torrent associated with an entry and whether the torrent is ACTIVE/inactive. In general, I just wanted to get some rudimentary functionality working here, but the eventual goal is a real time update with real download stats. * The "Stop Torrent" button now functions. It currently just deletes the .torrent file from the /active directory. When I figure out how to do a move in QT, I'll likely switch this such that it moves the .torrent to the /inactive directory instead of outright deleting it. * Updated the README to include explicit directions on what needs to be added to the MythTV main menu and MythTV setup menu so that you can reach Torrentocracy within Myth. This will probably be all the development I get to until I get back from Chicago on Sunday (seeing Phish). Hopefully I'll get some CVS access up next week. Installation Gotchas
Make sure when installing torrentocracy, you also do the following: Edit /usr/local/share/mythtv/mainmenu.xml and add an entry to the main menu for Torrentocracy. This can be done by copying one of the entries for one of the other plugins, replacing in the word Torrentocracy. Edit /usr/local/share/mythtv/main_settings.xml and add an entry to the setup menu for Torrentocracy. Again, just copy and paste another entry to suit your needs. Note that in order to use Torrentocracy, you need to go into Torrentocracy Setup and add feeds for Torrentocracy to use. Otherwise, the plugin will just show a blank view. Torrentocracy 0.0.4
Torrentocracy 0.0.4 is available (tarball): The intitial version for the website is up. Downloading torrents works and if you have the bittorrent service running, it'll then automatically kick off the torrent. Though, as of now, the GUI doesn't yet tell you this, nor does it do any status. By Gary Lerhaupt, 12:58 AM in changeblog | Comments (1) |
